سمل   "کیا تمہیں مجھ سے محبت ہے؟" وہ کہتی: "نہیں". اس کی آنکھیں اس کی آواز کا ساتھ نہ دیتیں. میرا یہ سوال اور اسکا مستقل ایک ہی جواب ہماری گفتگو کا ایک لازمی جزو تھا. میرا نام عامر ہے اور اس وقت میں آرکٹیکٹ انجینرنگ کے دوسرے سال میں تھا جب وہ فرسٹ ایر میں نئی نئی آئ تھی. نوٹس کے تبادلے سے شروع ہونے والی یہ دوستی اب کسی اور ہی جانب گامزن تھی. اسکا نام سمل تھا. وہ دراز قد، سفید رنگت ، ستواں ناک اور لمبے گھنے بالوں کے ساتھ کسی ملک کی شہزادی معلوم پڑتی تھی. جبکہ میں ایک عام سی شکل کا باتونی لڑکا تھا.لیکن وہ مجھے ہمیشہ یہ کہتی تھی کہ مجھے ظاہری خوبصورتی سے کوئی غرض نہیں ہے. مجھے یوں لگتا تھا کہ گویا ہم کبھی ایک ہی روح تھے جسکو دو جسموں میں بانٹ دیا گیا ہو. میرے دل کی باتیں وہ یوں جان لیتی جیسے وہ اسکے سامنے ایک کھلی کتاب ہو. اور اسکی شکل دیکھ کر میں بھانپ لیا کرتا تھا کہ وہ خوش ہے یا پریشان.  ہماری دوستی کے چرچے پوری یونیورسٹی میں تھے. چونکہ وہ اور لڑکوں کو منہ نہ لگاتی تھی تو کافی لڑکے مجھ سے جلتے بھی تھے. ہم دونوں متوسط طبقوں س...
